Teacher Convocation Goes 3-D for 2010
Go Determined – Go Dynamic – Go Digital was this year's theme for the Teacher Convocation. Over 500 teachers are determined to get students engaged in learning by designing rigorous and purposeful lessons.
The district remains on the cutting-edge of the digital world. Learning is a continuous process for both students and teachers.
However, it is not just about facts, figures and the digital age. According to Superintendent Dr. Stewart, it is about building relationships and seeing the value in each individual learner.
The audience was privileged to hear Dr. Ray McNulty speak about the 21st Century Learner. He is the President of the International Center for Leadership and Education. Prior to joining the International Center, he was a senior fellow at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where he worked with leading educators from around the country on improving our nation's high schools. Dr. McNulty encouraged MISD teachers to get the future ready today and to be the agents of change.
Throughout the event, teachers and staff wore 3-D glasses and watched several digital videos come to life on stage.

MISD Selected as Finalist in “Best Places to Work” Contest
Midlothian ISD was selected as a finalist in the "Best Places to Work" contest through a recent Dallas Business Journal survey taken by MISD employees in June. In 2009, MISD was ranked as the 4th “Best Place to Work” among big businesses and was the only school district ranked in the top five. To earn the prestigious DBJ Best Places to Work designation, companies have to earn a national best practice score for their category. This score is based on its work environment, innovations/new ideas, people practices, personal growth and development, leadership, employee recognition and the structure of the day-to-day operations. The 2010 rankings will be revealed at the annual Dallas Business Journal 2010 Best Places to Work Awards Luncheon on September 23, 2010 |

Message concerning FlashAlert
Many Midlothian parents and staff are subscribed to receive FlashAlert emergency emails and/or text messages. Once a year, they must confirm that they wish to continue receiving these messages.
If you wish to continue and have not already done so, please go to www.flashalert.net/login.html and enter your primary email address and password. Check that all your addresses are correct and then select "Click here to send test messages and complete the registration process" to update. If you do not update your account, it will be deleted on September 15.
Please make sure that your cell phone text addresses are formatted correctly with 10 digits (AT&T example: 5035551212@txt.att.net). Or, consider a new, even faster option: Twitter.
FlashAlert now can distribute messages through Twitter. Twitter's relationship with the cell companies mean that our messages go through the cell companies' faster "back door," so we encourage you to use Twitter instead of registering your cell phone in the FlashAlert system. You can register for Twitter by cicking on the blue Twitter logo next to Midlothian's name in your FlashAlert account.
Again, to continue receiving FlashAlerts, please log in to your account and launch a test message by September 15, 2009. |
