Read in the New Year!
LaRue Miller Elementary is “reading in the New Year”.  We will celebrate the new year on Friday, Jan. 9th by reading for 2,009 seconds.   Please help us celebrate by bringing some of your favorite books and a pillow, blanket or stuffed animal.  Be sure to wear your warm-ups so you can “warm up with a good book.”

 

Attention Kindergarten Parents: Gifted and Talented Screening
The elementary counselors will be presenting a program regarding the nomination and screening process for the Midlothian Independent School District's Gifted and Talented Program on Tuesday, January 13, at 6:30 p. m. at the L. A. Mills Administration Building, 100 Walter Stephenson Road.

The Kindergarten nomination window will run from Jan. 12 through Jan. 23, 2009. Students identified as gifted and talented will be served by March 2, 2009. All other elementary and secondary GT screenings will be conducted in April, with testing being conducted in May. Parents of kindergarten students may request a nomination packet by contacting your childís teacher. If you have any questions regarding the nomination or screening process, please contact your child's counselor.

 

Mathematics Pentathlon Upcoming Events
Midlothian ISD Elementary Schools are offering free game nights! Every adult is welcome to bring one child to participate in the activities. During the sessions you will have fun learning how to make math exciting for your child. These events are beneficial for implementation in the classrooms, forming after school math clubs, use at home, and individuals interested in attending a national tournament. All Math Pentathlon games are in alignment with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.

Game nights are open to all pentathlon participants in MISD and their parents. Game Nights located at T.E. Baxter Elementary, 1050 Park Place, (972) 775-8281

YMCA After-School Care
Midlothian ISD Elementary Schools

The YMCA Childcare Program is an after school childcare service offered at all six MISD elementary schools. The YMCA maintains a staff to child ratio of 1 teacher per 15 kids. The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and conforms to the strict standards of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. The program serves children in grades K-5, with care available from 2:45pm-6:30pm, Monday-Friday. Click here for more information.

 

LaRue Miller Kindergarteners collect many pairs of shoes for Mexico Mission Trip
During their mission trip to Matamoros, Mexico- Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Candy Marshall and student Paxton Neal will deliver the many pairs of shoes that were collected over the past two weeks. The shoes will go to many families in need. The shoes will be distributed during the Thanksgiving Holidays.

 

Teachers awarded $24,733 by the MEF Star Patrol

The MISD Education Foundation (MEF) Star Patrol surprised teachers on November 17 with five innovative teaching grants totaling $24,733. These grants are made possible through the non-profit Foundation founded in April 2004 to benefit the teachers and students for innovative projects and programs. Thanks to the donors and sponsors, MEF has awarded over $125,000 to teachers and students. More

 
MISD Announces the 2008 Gold Performance Acknowledgements

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) awarded seven Midlothian ISD campuses and the District with Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPA).
