bingoJAV 3rd grade student, Annalynne J. wins a prize at Perfect Attendance Bingo. Principal Wagoner rewards students with great prizes and a fun time for having perfect attendance for the semester. School attendance is extremely important for learning and a valuable skill-set to have for future career choices.

Vet dayJAV 5th grade students celebrated Veteran's Day recently. They were visited by Sgt. Ryan Andersen, USMC, to share his experiences as a Veteran serving in Iraq.

 

 


ESL learning about Day of the DeadMrs. White's 3rd grade bilingual class and Mrs. Lackey's 2nd grade bilingual class celebrate the Day of the Dead by writing about a loved one that had passed away and making skeleton masks to honor them. Mrs. Rocha our bilingual Special Ed. teacher spoke to both classes.

 


ESL study matterThrough discovery of changes of matter in ESL this week, 2nd grade students created and decorated sugar skulls, while also studying the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos.

MFD visitJAV students learned so much about fire safety recently. MFD treated the students to tours of the firetruck and the "feel" of putting on "the gear".

New GardenJAV ESL Students are proud to present their new garden. They would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. Please stop by and let them show you how this one little garden is a learning tool for so many things. They are learning about eco-systems, life cycles, plants and even helping them develop vocabulary.


Bastrop CheckJAV Student Council Members, Olivia R., Triston H., and Ivy B. are excited to present a check to the Bastrop Relief Fund.

As part of our Rachel's Challenge to reach out to help others, JA Vitovsky's student council collected $850 for the Bastrop Relief Fund. This fund was set up to help families in Bastrop who lost their homes in the recent wildfires. We are hoping our contribution will bring a bit of happiness to those who lost so much.
